IndiGo appoints new chairman

IndiGo appointed Vikram Singh Mehta as the chairman of its board on Wednesday. Mehta was an existing board member of the company, and has previously served on the boards of Colgate Palmolive (India) Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Larsen and Toubro Limited. He is succeeding Venkataramani Sumantran, who took charge as chairman three years ago. Meanwhile, Rakesh Gangwal, co-founder of IndiGo's parent company InterGlobe Aviation, sold a 5.72% stake in the airline on Tuesday, amounting to approximately ₹11,564 crore.
